Expenses
The Skills Funding Agency is a national organisation covering the whole of England. Prior to October 2010, we employed 1,900* staff (including the National Apprenticeship Service) at our main office in Coventry and in 21 offices around England from Gateshead to Plymouth. We work closely with more than 1,700 colleges and training organisations to ensure they deliver quality training and improve the skills of learners across the country. As an agency of the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills we monitor and manage skills investment. These activities require extensive travel to colleges and training organisations premises as well as between London and Coventry.
This page is part of the Agency’s response to the Government’s Transparency Agenda. Here you will find summaries of the Skills Funding Agency staff‘s expenses. Each file contains the expenses processed onto the Agency’s accounting system in the period given in the file name. The expenses include costs from staff expenses claims and invoices for travel and accommodation. The first publication of data is for the two quarters ending 30 September 2010. Future publication will be monthly.
The information classifies expenses according to both their type: mileage, rail and air travel and according to the position a member of staff occupies in the Agency. Management Board members are named but the expenses of the remaining staff are summarised by Band, which denotes the level of seniority within the Agency, Band 5 being the most senior.
Please note that staff claim expenses for periods ranging from a day to a number of months. This can contribute to noticeable variations in the value of the claims processed from one month to another for an individual.
