TV Chef Lorraine Pascale and Minister John Hayes launch National Careers Service
Model turned TV Chef Lorraine Pascale and Skills Minister John Hayes launched a new service which will transform careers advice by combining thousands of highly trained advisers with a new interactive website, helping countless people reach their potential.
The launch took place at Westfield Shopping Centre (Shepherds Bush, London) on Thursday 5 April where a mobile version of the service was available. Advisors were on hand to speak to customers and laptops were available showing the new website and an overview of the services offered.
Getting the right information, advice and guidance on learning and work, at the right time, has never been more important. It is a vital part of building a sustainable economy, nourishing social mobility and feeding social justice.
After having a successful career in modelling Lorraine tried courses in hypnotherapy, auto repair and interior design before finding her passion for cooking. “Having independent careers advices can really help you find the thing you want to do. I’d encourage everyone to make the most of the National Careers Service to find out how to take their career forward, and realise their ambitions, she said.”
The National Careers Service can be accessed online, including through webchat, on nationalcareersservice.direct.gov.uk and over the telephone on 0800 100 900. Adults will also be able to get face-to-face guidance in their community.
