Advancing sexual orientation and gender identity equality in post school education
The Forum for Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Equality in Post School Education invites you to an event to advance sexual orientation and gender identity equality in the post school sector.
This will include a launch of the Forum’s new trans guidance; a
presentation of the Skills Funding Agency’s Research into Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Equality in Adult Learning; and workshops to enable you to:
- Set objectives
- Engage with your LGB and T learners and staff
- Obtain information about the experiences of LGB and T people in a way that reflects the rich diversity of LGB and T lives
- Manage potential conflict between equality groups
- Embed equality in the curriculum, and
- Advance equality in employment.
You will hear directly from learners, colleges, providers and universities, as well as speakers from the Equality Challenge Unit (ECU), Learning and Skills Improvement Service (LSIS), National Union of Students (NUS), Skills Funding Agency and University and College Union (UCU).
By 6 April 2012, public bodies will be required by law to publish objectives to advance equality of opportunity, foster good relations and address discrimination and harassment. You will have the opportunity to explore what this means for post school education organisations.
These events are particularly relevant to:
- Senior managers
- Student and staff leaders and representatives
- Staff involved in curriculum design and delivery
- Student services staff, and
- HR staff.
These all-day events are free for staff and students from colleges, workbased learning (WBL), adult and community learning (ACL) and universities.
