Skills for Sustainable Growth and Investing in Skills for Sustainable Growth

The Skills Strategy, 'Skills for Sustainable Growth' and the Skills Investment Strategy, 'Investing in Skills for Sustainable Growth' have been published by the Department for Business Innovation and Skills.  

Geoff Russell, Chief Executive of Skills Funding welcomed the publication of 'Skills for Sustainable Growth' and said “Skills for Sustainable Growth is a welcome statement of the principles of a new learning and skills system that will allow the sector to play a critical role in promoting economic growth and underpinning a fair society. The Skills Funding Agency will work with the sector to realise this vision of responding directly and flexibly to the demands of employers and communities and realising the skills aspirations of the nation.”   

Geoff Russell also welcomed the publication of 'Investing in Skills for Sustainable Growth' and said, “Establishing the new dynamic skills sector of the future requires a new approach to how government subsidy is applied to support learning. Investing in Skills for Sustainable Growth provides the Skills Funding Agency with a short and medium term programme to establish a funding regime that gives colleges and providers the freedoms and flexibilities to deliver the skills their communities and local economies need.”
