Skills Investment Statement and Plan

The “New Challenges, New Chances” Skills Investment Statement and Plan set out the key policy objectives and operational drivers for the Further Education sector for 2011-14.

They are now available on the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills  website.

Geoff Russell, Chief Executive of the Skills Funding Agency said,

“The Skills Investment Strategy and the New Challenges, New Chances consultation sets out the Skills Funding Agency’s role in managing £3.6 billion of investment that will deliver good value for money to raise the country’s skills, and target support towards young adults, the low skilled and the unemployed.

“Significantly, this marks out the path for FE reform and we will drive it forward by piloting new approaches and continuing to operate a simpler, more streamlined funding system.

“The Agency will promote, fund and ensure quality in FE and skills training, and work in partnership with the sector to recognise Government’s ambition for vocational education and training that will boost the country’s economic growth and ability to compete globally.”
