2010/11 Accounts Direction Handbook

This guidance is of interest to principals and chief executives of further education (FE) colleges, finance directors at FE colleges, financial statements and regularity auditors, regional Skills Funding Agency colleagues and other key organisations in the learning and skills sector.

The purpose of the guidance is to provide direction to colleges and auditors on the preparation of colleges’ annual financial statements. The Skills Funding Agency has worked with the Association of Colleges (AoC) the College Financial Directors Group (CFDG) and consulted with auditors on this guidance, which supplements that in the 2007 Statement of Recommended Practice (SORP) and consolidates all previous accounting policies guidance issued by the Skills Funding Agency. This guidance applies for the year ending 31 July 2011.

2010/11 Accounts Direction Handbook Addendum

The Addendum to the Accounts Direction Handbook provides an update on a small number of areas to inform the completion of 2010/11 college financial statements and external audits. These reflect issues which were subject to further discussion/clarification at time of the original issue of the 2010/11 ADH in May 2011 or deal with emerging developments since that date.
