The National Careers Service
Sometimes it’s hard to know what steps to take to move on in work and life. This is where the National Careers Service can help. It provides information, careers and skills advice that’s tailored to you and is available free to everyone aged 13 or over in England.
Help is available online, or with one of our careers advisers over the phone or face-to-face.
You can call 0800 100 900 from 8am to 10pm seven days a week or visit the website.
Our careers advisers are professionally qualified and can give individual advice to help you make the right choices about learning and work. We can help you:
find learning and training that is right for you
improve your reading, writing and maths
understand the local job market
find out about funding to support your learning
develop your CV
improve your interview and presentation skills
progress in your current job
find out about the types of disability and childcare support available.
Through the National Careers Service you can open a Lifelong Learning Account, which is a free personal online space to help you to manage your learning and career, including:
- saving a CV, results of a Skills Health Check and course searches
- access qualification results from their Personal Learning Record
- tracking funding and learning contributions
